Hasakah meeting discusses lawyers' integration, outstanding cases

Syrian Lawyers’ Syndicate Deputy Head Mohammed Salameh met on Tuesday with the Lawyers’ Union in Hasakah Governorate at the union’s headquarters to discuss the integration process, its latest developments and its implications for the work of lawyers and the legal sector in the governorate, in the presence of Hasakah Deputy Governor Ahmad al-Hilali.

Dozens of lawyers from across the governorate attended the meeting, where they discussed several issues related to the integration process, as well as outstanding cases and problems that have accompanied the process.

At the beginning of his remarks, Syrian Lawyers’ Syndicate Deputy Head Mohammed Salameh said, “Hasakah is the jewel of the Syrian Jazira, known for its love and generosity. Only those who harbor hatred would question the patriotism of the people of Hasakah. They have demonstrated their patriotism through their sacrifices. Hasakah was, remains and will always be part of Syria and of this precious land.”

Salameh also congratulated everyone, saying, “I congratulate you, all of us and all Syrians on the recent agreement reached between the Syrian government and the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces.”

Mohammed Salameh explained that “the Lawyers’ Syndicate will deal with all fellow lawyers professionally and restore their rights in full, without any reduction. It will not operate according to any political affiliation or reference as it did in the past. Syria belongs to all Syrians, and Hasakah and its people are an integral part of its social fabric; Arabs, Kurds and Syriacs.”

Salameh noted that any lawyer who joined the union in accordance with the Professional Organization Law, provided they meet its requirements, will be considered registered with the Lawyers’ Syndicate in Syria or one of its branches, with full seniority and rights.

For his part, Hasakah Deputy Governor Ahmad al-Hilali said, “We met today to complete the process of integrating the Lawyers’ Syndicate. This is a technical meeting, and we welcomed the guests who came from Damascus representing the central Lawyers’ Syndicate. These initial technical meetings aim to address all outstanding technical and procedural issues within the Hasakah branch of the Lawyers’ Syndicate.”

Al-Hilali stressed the importance of this step, which he said aims to reopen the Lawyers’ Syndicate in Hasakah Governorate and return all lawyers to the syndicate.

The Hasakah deputy governor confirmed that the integration of lawyers had been completed, explaining that the meeting focused on resolving some outstanding issues, such as reinstating lawyers whose names had been removed from the rolls or who had been excluded, recognizing their years of service within the syndicate, as well as addressing some financial and technical matters.
