Ilham Ahmed: Kurdish rights must be constitutionally guaranteed

During the funeral ceremony for the martyrs of Kobani Prison, Ilham Ahmed, Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration, said that popular gatherings represent a commitment to the values of the martyrs, stressing that her people will continue to defend their rights and adapt their methods of struggle to the requirements of the current stage.

She added that what happened in Hasakah was painful, saying that it would not go without accountability and emphasizing that those involved would be held to account.

She noted that, following the events, the people of Kobani expressed their will and sent a message to the transitional government that their will cannot be broken and their existence cannot be easily erased. She warned against attempts to incite discord between Kurds and Arabs and called for vigilance against such schemes.

She affirmed that the Kurdish people have made great sacrifices and lost many martyrs, and that their efforts to secure their rights have not ended. She stressed that Kurdish rights must be constitutionally guaranteed, and that the current stage requires changing the methods of resistance and struggle rather than abandoning the cause.

She stressed the need to raise the level of political, legal, and organizational struggle, considering that honoring the blood of the martyrs means continuing the struggle and strengthening organization. She also pointed to the continuation of efforts demanding the right to education in the mother tongue.

Regarding the fire at Kobani Prison, Ilham Ahmed said that the Autonomous Administration had held several meetings and launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. She affirmed that anyone proven responsible would be held accountable, pledging that justice would take its course and that the legacy and path of the martyrs would remain among the top priorities.
