The PYD, in coordination with the Kongra Star, organized a gathering in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, attended by dozens of people. The event began with a minute of silence in tribute to the martyrs.

October 25 marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Kurdish fighter Gulnaz Karataş (Berîtan), who fell victim to treachery and betrayal in the mountains of Kurdistan.

During the gathering, Kongra Star member Leyla Mohammed spoke about Berîtan and her struggle, stressing that she had left a significant legacy for women around the world. Through her operation, Berîtan demonstrated that ideas and ideology are stronger than all weapons, and that people can defend their cause through their thought and free philosophy.

Mohammed noted that Berîtan taught her enemies a lesson about the qualities of Kurdish women, demonstrating their strength and resilience and proving that women can do anything for themselves, their people and their land.

Mohammed concluded her speech by commemorating 68 male and female guerrilla fighters who were martyred at different stages of the Kurdish liberation movement. She offered condolences to their families and wished them patience and solace, affirming that the path of martyrdom and struggle would continue as long as free resistance stood against tyranny and enslavement.
