The Consultative Meeting Parties warned of the repercussions of the protest held in the city of Hasakah on Friday, calling for public demands to be inclusive of all components of the region and for any divisive rhetoric that could further fuel tensions and social divisions to be avoided.

In a statement, the parties said that the protest in Hasakah, during which slogans were raised against the Syrian Democratic Forces, including over what they described as inappropriate treatment of Kurdish national symbols, could deepen tensions and pave the way for community conflicts.

The Consultative Meeting Parties stressed that “government authorities bear responsibility for maintaining security and stability and for swiftly preventing anyone seeking to incite discord or create community conflict, while also working to address citizens’ legitimate demands through dialogue and peaceful channels.”
