IDPs Committee: Efforts continue to ensure safe return of IDPs from Raqqa, Tabqa, Girê Spî

Sara Qawwas, a member of the Committee for Displaced People from Raqqa, Tabqa and Girê Spî in Kobani, said efforts are continuing to facilitate the return of displaced people to their cities, stressing the need to provide suitable conditions to ensure their safe return.

Qawwas said the committee is continuing its efforts to ensure the return of displaced people to their cities, noting that the list of displaced people residing in Kobani includes around 1,700 people.

She explained that the displaced people living in Kobani have endured difficult conditions in camps and the areas where they have resided over the past years, emphasizing that there is a plan to work toward ensuring their safe return.

She stressed that returning to their areas of origin is a legitimate right of displaced people and that their difficult humanitarian conditions should not be held hostage to political disputes, noting that efforts to facilitate their return are ongoing.

She also pointed out that displaced people continue to fear being subjected to attacks during the return process, calling on the international community to assume its humanitarian and security responsibilities toward them and work to end forced displacement.
