Youth from Tel Tamr and Zerkan organized the torchlight march today, calling for Kurdish to be recognized as an official language in the constitution, the protection of the Kurdish people's right to learn their mother tongue, and an end to leader Ocalan's physical isolation through his release.

The march began at the Electricity Roundabout in central Tel Tamr and proceeded along the city's main streets toward the Tel Tamr–Serêkaniyê highway, where it turned into a public gathering. Participants held torches and chanted slogans stressing the need to protect the Kurdish language, guarantee the Kurdish people's linguistic and cultural rights, and secure leader Öcalan's physical freedom.

A statement on behalf of the youth in Tel Tamr was delivered by young woman Bayan Hussein, who stressed the need to enshrine recognition of the Kurdish language in the Syrian constitution, ensuring that future generations can learn and use their mother tongue while preserving their cultural and linguistic identity.

She also emphasized the importance of guaranteeing children and students the right to receive education in their mother tongue. She called for measures to protect the Kurdish language and strengthen its presence in educational institutions, ensuring that students are not denied the right to learn in their mother tongue. She also condemned the international conspiracy against leader Ocalan.

The event is part of a series of activities taking place across the region to demand the protection of the Kurdish people's linguistic and cultural rights, constitutional recognition of the Kurdish language, and leader Ocalan's physical freedom.
