The residents of Al-Manakh village in the countryside of Tal Tamr are facing an obstacle to returning to their homes, after they were prevented from entering the village by the Turkish military base stationed there, and informed that the area is a military zone and approaching it is prohibited.

The residents said they tried to return to their homes and check on their property, but the base members prevented them from entering, thus preventing them from returning to the village.

This comes as displaced residents of Serêkaniyê continue to return to their villages and areas, after years of displacement, amid continued obstacles preventing residents of a number of villages from returning to their homes.

Three convoys for return

As part of the return of displaced people, three convoys have returned to Serêkaniyê and its countryside in recent months.

On August 10, 2026, the first convoy returned, comprising about 400 families displaced from Serêkaniyê, and headed to the city and its countryside.

On September 8, 2026, the second convoy returned, comprising about 700 families, and headed to about 55 villages in the countryside of Serêkaniyê, in addition to villages and areas in the countryside of Tal Tamr and Zirkan.

As for the third convoy, it arrived on October 5, 2026, and included 511 displaced families residing in Washokani camp and shelter schools in Hasakah, and headed to villages and towns in the southern countryside of Serêkaniyê.

While the return of displaced people to their areas continues, the residents of Al-Manakh village are still unable to reach their homes, as they are prevented from entering the village, which delays their return until they are allowed to access their properties.
