Women of Qamishlo denounce violations against Kurds in Tel Aran and Tel Hasel

Reactions continue to grow over the incidents that took place in the towns of Tel Aran and Tel Hasel in the Aleppo countryside on June 30, involving a raid campaign that resulted in the arrest of ten Kurdish citizens, in addition to assaults on women in the two towns—sparking widespread condemnation from women’s organizations, human rights groups, and social figures.

Women in Qamishlo, in statements to ANHA Agency, stressed that what happened constitutes a violation of women’s and human rights and contradicts the requirements of a new phase in Syria, which should be based on justice, equality, and respect for the dignity of all Syrians.

In this context, citizen Kolestan Fatemi said: “The injustice inflicted on the woman in Tell Aran is absolutely unacceptable, and we as women declare our solidarity with her. There is no justification for what happened, and we stand against the violence and oppression committed.”

She added that “the arrest of Kurdish youth without justification is completely unacceptable, and we will continue our activities until they are released.”

For her part, Kongra Star member Rania Muhammad condemned what happened in the two towns, saying: “They are pointing weapons at the Kurdish people without any convincing reason, and such actions cannot be accepted.”

She added that “the Kurdish people support peace and do not align with war or violence. Therefore, the authorities must approach the Kurdish people on this basis with seriousness, and they must adhere to their responsibilities and respect their existence.”

Meanwhile, Badiya Amin said: “Everyone must know that we cannot accept any form of violence against women. We condemn the attack that took place against women in Tell Aran. Wherever we are as women, we will not accept these abuses, and we will rise against such violations.”

She added: “We will resist until the end; we will not submit as we once did. Our philosophy is that resistance is life, and we remain committed to it until the end.”

Kongra Star member Mona Ibrahim also commented on the attacks, saying: “We will never accept this, and as women we will stand together as one. The Women’s Protection Units play a role in protecting women and defending them.”

She added: “Through our unity we become a force that cannot be underestimated, and we will stand against all forms of violence committed against women.”

In conclusion, she pointed to the continuation of activities condemning all forms of violence, particularly those targeting the Kurdish people in Tel Hasel and Tel Aran, stressing that “the authorities must adapt to the requirements of the current phase and reinforce their role in protecting all members of society and safeguarding their rights.”
