The command of the Eastern Kurdistan Protection Units (YRK) issued a statement today regarding the Iranian attacks targeting its positions. The statement reads:

“In recent days, our forces have once again been subjected to attacks by the Iranian regime. To ensure that public opinion is informed of every attack that takes place, we are publishing this information. As we have stated previously, we reiterate that we will exercise our legitimate right to self-defence against any attack targeting our people and our forces.

Since 13 October, the Iranian regime has deployed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces, along with heavy weapons and armed drones, in the Shaho region.

On the same date, the enemy bombed the Qelbeh Plain area using suicide drones, heavy weapons and artillery.

In the early hours of 15 October, IRGC forces bombed the Qala Terzan area using four suicide drones. The bombardment continued until midday.

A large number of soldiers have been deployed in the area, and available information indicates that they are determined to continue their movements and attacks against our forces in that area.

We therefore wish to make it clear that our forces have issued the necessary warnings regarding these attacks. However, this does not mean that we will limit ourselves to warnings indefinitely.

If these attacks continue, we, as the Eastern Kurdistan Protection Units, will exercise our legitimate right to self-defence to the fullest extent and will respond with the necessary measures.”
